Immediately after speaking to about 30 people about video microblogging at the Montreal Girl Geek Dinner last night (thanks to everyone for coming out!), I kicked off the start of my PodCamp Montreal Weekend Extravaganza a day early.
It’s hard to resist when out-of-towners and fellow PodCamp Montreal presenters Dana (@wankergirl) and Nicole (@misssomething) (Relationships 2.1), and Tracy Apps (@tapps) (Creating Conversation and Community with Video – Exploring Seesmic.com) were in one location and ready to have some fun. In true Montreal style, the party was graciously hosted with beer and bagels (thanks @jessiejessie!).
Today, I’ve been working on my presentation on Using Twitter to Build and Monitor Your Personal Brand in advance of the kick off party tonight. But all day long I’ve been distracted as the Twitter stream filled with more and more people arriving in Montreal, ready to meet, greet and be merry about new media. And I’m sad for the many who can’t make it, despite their best laid plans. My friend, PodCamp Toronto alum and PAB veteran, Tommy Vallier, even made a video in both official languages wishing us a good event in his absence.
The PodCamp Montreal organizers have done a great job keeping people informed of event details and locations as well as session schedules and descriptions.
So, if you are here from out of town, welcome! I look forward to meeting many new friends and old over the next three action-packed, media-filled days.
