Hello Twitter buds!
If you are here, you’ve likely arrived via the link on my Twitter profile page. And, you are probably trying to find out if I’m someone you’d like to follow there.
I built my social media reputation on Twitter and other social networks before I started a blog. My first blog post addressed this anomaly and I was fortunate enough to have received over 50 welcoming comments from the community. Frequently I Tweet that I am truly humbled by the company I keep. So many amazing people in one spot.
If you are new to Twitter, or to social networks in general, I urge you to read Twitter: Reputation Management in Social Networks by Laurel Papworth (@SilkCharm) to help you avoid some of the pitfalls that enthusiastic newcomers can sometimes make.
If you want to know about my professional life, you can check out the bio here on my blog, my profile on LinkedIn or my company.
Here are some fast facts about me and Twitter:
- My first Tweet was April 27, 2007. That’s pretty old school for Twitter.
- I’m a huge Twitter evangelist and I credit Twitter with changing my life. Mostly for the better.
- At times, I am what would be considered a heavy Twitter user. Other times, not at all.
- I love that Twitter lets me quickly connect to friends all around the world.
- I converse in Twitter and use @ replies a lot. If you @ me, I will most likely @ you back, unless I’m very busy or my reply comes so late that it’s missed the moment.
- I like to help out. If I feel that I can make a contribution, I will.
- Sometimes I ask questions, usually because I need help or advice.
- I try to post relevant, interesting links that are mostly in social media, technology or marketing.
- What I’m eating at a given moment will rarely show up in my Tweet stream. Occasionally, obscure song lyrics, references to punk or cover songs will.
- I started the Twitter Punks Flickr group. It’s all about the attitude, baby!
- The most fun time to hang out on Twitter: Friday nights after 9 pm ET, because that’s when people let their hair down after a long week. Sometimes a Friday Night Twitter Party erupts, where we take musical requests and introduce new people to others. Think virtual cocktail party. Tim Siedell (@badbanana) started the concept in December 2007.
- I will rarely swear, and keep it pretty clean. I do, however, like to use language in a clever way when the mood strikes, and I do have a reputation for being saucy.
- The Tweet I refer to the most, and a source of inspiration in lean times, came from Geoff Livingston (@GeoffLiving).
I could go on, but chances are you haven’t even made it this far.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Perhaps I’ll see you on Twitter soon.
